To ‘please’ is to consider your desires and decide how to act or proceed. ‘Pleasing’, in contrast, connotes a willingness towards fulfilling a hope for the near or distant future. These notions lead themselves to a Utopian idealism and more specifically, a queer idealism that looks toward enlightened futurity.
