Hoof island is about feeling displaced in one’s own body and external insecurities. Although, the campiness of the work is somewhat obvious, the collection is conversely laced with socio-cultural criticism around bodily autonomy, self-image and sculptural objects. The work sources objects such as Pleaser Shoes, Overreach Boots, hair, and books to delve into an imaginary space that exceeds normative perceptions of body image.
